Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats Recipe

These 5-ingredient, 5-minute Cake Batter Krispie Treats take the classic we all love and launch them into a new realm of ooey, gooey, sprinkley deliciousness.

Author: Three Snackateers
  • 4 tbsp Butter
  • 1 bag Mini-Marshmallows 4 Cups
  • 2/3 cup Dry Cake Mix Yellow, White, or Confetti
  • 5 cups Crispy Rice Cereal
  • 1 container Sprinkles
  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan at low heat.

  2. Once butter is completely melted, add marshmallows to saucepan. Keep on low heat, stirring frequently. Melt marshmallows completely (no lumps).

  3. Stir in the dry cake mix. Remove pan from heat.

  4. Add the cereal to the marshmallow mixture and about half of the sprinkles. Stir gently until cereal is completely coated.

  5. Pour mixture in to a 13x9x2-inch pan coated with cooking spray. Use wax paper or a spatula sprayed with cooking spray to lightly press the mixture down evenly throughout the pan.

  6. Top with the remaining sprinkles and enjoy!

Tips, Tricks and Tools
  1. Be sure to melt marshmallows on low heat. Otherwise, your treats may end up hard, crunchy and dry.

  2. Use any type of square and/or rectangular pan. The smaller the pan, the thicker the treats. The larger the pan, the thinner the treats.

  3. If you prefer to press the mixture into the pan with your hands, spray them with cooking spray first for no sticky mess!

About The Author

Confession: I’m obsessed with snacks. I have been for as long as I can remember. Ask anyone that knows me for a fun fact and the word ‘cupcake’ will probably come up. I’m known to keep sprinkles in my purse because you never know when the occasion may call for them. I always look at the dessert menu before ordering dinner. For fun I love to spend hours in the grocery stores scouting new and interesting foods. I love baking, but hate cooking. And I’m so lucky that my husband and little girl love sweets as much as I do!
