Kickin’ Crackers

Kickin’ Crackers

If you enjoy snacks with a bit of a kick, you will love these! After following this simple recipe, you will have yourself some flavor packed crackers.

I first came across this recipe on Pinterest. I was desperate to find a quick and easy snack to bring to a family party. Per usual, I waited until the last minute to figure out what I was going to bring. I am not the type to spend hours in the kitchen whipping up an elaborate side dish to share at a family party. I’ll leave that up to my four sister-in-laws who are much more capable. To my surprise, the crackers ended up being a hit and were especially enjoyed by the spicy snack lovers.

Note: There was one occasion where I substituted the saltines with RITZ crackers. Because RITZ crackers are buttery, after a day or so, the crackers seemed to soften up too much and their texture became a bit spongy.

Author: Three Snackateers
Ingredients
  • 1 cup Canola Oil
  • 1 pkg Hidden Valley The Original Ranch Salad Dressing & Seasoning Mix
  • 2 - 3 tbsp Crushed Red Pepper
  • 3 sleeves Saltine Crackers
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.

  2. Add all four ingredients to a large mixing bowl.

  3. Using a spatula or large spoon, gently mix ingredients for approximately 5-10 minutes to ensure that all ingredients are evenly coated.

  4. Spread crackers out on a large cookie sheet and bake in oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring them half way through.

  5. Remove from oven, let cool and enjoy!

Tips, Tricks and Tools
  1.  Be sure to take the time to thoroughly mix all of the ingredients together. You want everything to be as evenly distributed as possible

  2. Gently mix the ingredients in a large bowl. You don’t want the crackers to break into a bunch of smaller pieces. A smaller bowl may make the mixing process more difficult.

  3. Want to soften the kick? They taste great dipped in sour cream!

Confession: I’m obsessed with snacks. I have been for as long as I can remember. Ask anyone that knows me for a fun fact and the word ‘cupcake’ will probably come up. I’m known to keep sprinkles in my purse because you never know when the occasion may call for them. I always look at the dessert menu before ordering dinner. For fun I love to spend hours in the grocery stores scouting new and interesting foods. I love baking, but hate cooking. And I’m so lucky that my husband and little girl love sweets as much as I do!
